UNICRI is pleased to invite young experts aged 18 to 32 to contribute to the upcoming edition of Freedom From Fear (F3), the Magazine dedicated to fostering dialogue, research and awareness on global challenges related to security and justice.
The forthcoming issue, titled The New Criminal Code: Deciphering Emerging Threats in Cyberspace, will focus on cyber threats and cybersecurity, examining how new technologies and digital environments are reshaping crime, justice and prevention strategies.
Freedom From Fear, ), the Magazine produced by UNICRI in cooperation with Ghent University, aims to advance knowledge and raise awareness of the international community’s most pressing issues. It provides a platform for informed dialogue and improved action in the fields of justice, crime prevention and sustainable development. The Magazine serves as a unique forum for the exchange of perspectives, offering space to highlight good practices, reflect on challenges, and propose lasting solutions. Contributors include experts from regional and international organisations, governments, academia and civil society.
Freedom From Fear also aims to amplify the perspectives of young experts engaged in work and research at the intersection of technology, justice and human rights.
Suggested topics include:
- The evolving threat landscape in cyberspace
- Cybersecurity and its links to peace, development and justice
- Gender dimensions and youth engagement in cybersecurity
- Legal and policy frameworks for cybersecurity
- Best practices in digital governance and accountability
- How young people are driving innovation in cybersecurity
- Strengthening digital resilience through youth engagement
Submission guidelines:
- Contributors must be between 18 and 32 years of age
- Maximum length: 8,000 characters (including spaces)
- Each submission should include an abstract (maximum 200 words) and a short biography (maximum 100 words)
- Language: English
- Editorial standards: United Nations Editorial Manual
- Deadline: 15 August 2025
All submissions will be reviewed by the Freedom From Fear editorial board, and a selection will be made for publication based on relevance, originality and editorial balance.
