On 9 April 2025, in Nouakchott, Mauritania, UNICRI held the closing event of its project Gender-Based Discrimination and the Prevention of Violent Extremism (PVE) in the Sahel, generously funded by the Republic of Korea through the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).
The report Right- and left-wing violent extremist abuse of digital technologies in South America, Africa and Asia, jointly published by UNICRI and VOX-Pol, investigates the underexplored phenomenon of right- and left-wing violent extremist groups in the Global South and their abuse of digital technologies.
To mark the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, the Italian Sports Centre (CSI) of Reggio Calabria, in collaboration with schools, local and international organisations, and UNICRI, launched the initiative SPORTPEACE25.
